15.5.2005: New software for Catweasel and MMC64, new X-Surf production run
New versions of MMC64 plugins available The flashcard-based mass storage device for the C64 computer supports a plugin system that handles unknown filetypes with external programs. The plugins for displaying picture files have been updated, some problems with certain memory cards have been fixed. The plugin for playing back animation streams now automatically recognizes if it's running on a PAL or on an NTSC machine, so it has been reduced to one file now. Download: MMC64_PicturePlugins12.zip (5 KByte) Download anim-Player: PAL/NTSC version (2 KByte) New drivers for Catweasel MK3 and MK4 A new version of the windows-drivers for the PCI models of the Catweasel series is also available for free download now. A bug in the diskchange-recognition of the driver has been fixed. Due to this bug, the imagetool did not write properly, and didn't even give an error message. The imagetool itself has also been upgraded with a verify option that allows comparison of the buffer with the contents of the disk. On popular request, more developer information has been added to the archive: The full sources to the imagetool and the Amiga keyboard drivers are included, and should answer most of the questios that developers can have using the base drivers. Download: CWMK40109.zip (175 KByte) X-Surf 3cc now available One of our most successful products is the X-Surf networking card for Zorro-Amigas. Many reviews have shown that it's hard- and software options are superior to most other solutions on the market. The demand for the X-Surf 2 card has slowed down in 2004, so we did not make a new production run for Christmas 2004, because we expected the market to be saturated and did not want to take the financial risk of another production run. After the card was out of stock at nearly every reseller, there was no other networking card available on the Amiga market, and we were approached by several big Amiga resellers who made a new production run possible with their pre-orders. We would like to thank our partners for the cooperation, and give a recommendation to our customers to buy from these resellers, because they made the new production run possible with ther financial engagement: Software Hut USA KDH Datentechnik Germany Vesalia Germany GGS Data Sweden The new card is revised in certain areas to keep small-quantity production economical: While the previous X-Surf cards had two IDE ports (3.5 inch and 2.5 inch), the new one only has one IDE port for 3.5 inch devices. Also, the new X-Surf 3cc has a revised Zorro interface that works with even more Zorro daughterboards. We have even solved the compatibility problems with the old Mikronik daughterboards for the A500, although Mikronik had by far the worst interpretation of the Zorro standard on their Zorro boards, causing many incompatibilities. The recommended retail price for the X-Surf 3cc is 109,- EUR, but some resellers (especially the above) are offering it for a better price. |
